[A CASE STUDY]

Our client needed intelligence on the history, growth, and financial health of an international construction firm specializing in airport design. Colley Intelligence Intl. was asked to identify the company principals and obtain background detail on key executives.

Our objectives were also to obtain copies of the firm’s IPO documents, analyze the documents, and determine whether there were any concerns that might be relevant to an acquisition bid tendered during the company’s IPO.

We provided our client with the construction company’s financial history and profiles of the principals involved in past mergers. We reported in full on the business backgrounds, associations, incomes, civil and criminal histories, and reputations of four key executives who had been instrumental in the business’s growth and expansion into international markets.

We also verified the executives’ educational and professional credentials and interviewed their associates regarding their character and integrity. Three of the parties were revealed to be capable, hardworking, and respected decision-makers.

Research into the background of a fourth company executive, the chief financial officer, indicated he was possessed of a short fuse and a violent disposition. Some company employees suspected him of being untrustworthy.

The intelligence we delivered allowed our client to take crucial—otherwise undisclosed—details into consideration prior to an acquisition.

Information we discovered gave our client the option of requesting the strategic replacement of a questionable CFO.
